The mirrors are absolutely useable. Vibration is un-noticeable. I usually drive with Brooklands windscreens in good weather, but when the regular windshield is on, I also have a mirror on it. No good with the hood up, though, thus the wing mirrors.
The car came from the factory with wing mirrors, and I've grown accustomed to them.

The Torpedos have arrived from SVH
If anyone with a late 4/4 with these fitted has time to throw a tape over Id be v appreciative.
Esp distance from front edge of wing to front of side light or front of the foot the sudelight sits on, andvdistance from outer edge of wing to side of footing

Jeff Jeff......I'm away at the moment but back home to my 4/4 at the week-end. I'll measure up for you then. Jeff......... back home now and have measured my wings. From bottom of front wing up to the front of the light plinth is 24" and from wheel arch edge to front outer edge of plinth is 6" . I measured quite a few cars of differing ages before fitting mine ( and got some strange looks!) and depending on the age of the car, the measurements differ! As the later cars have Superform wings I ended up relying on those measurements including a couple of cars in the factory.

I first set one up by eye without looking at your measurements.
Then compared and had the same 6", but 23 1/2'; will check again tomorrow and then drill!

The important point about finding the top of the wing is to ensure the lights are level. This distance (front edge of wing to centre of lamp plinth) could vary between cars if for example the front and rear ride heights are different. It may also vary with the car loaded or unloaded. I doubt it is critical though.
Another way might be to separate the rubber plinth from the lamp, sit it on top of the wing, and use a spirit level to ensure it is level.
I think they should be exactly centred on the top of the wing side-to-side.
Before drilling try sticking them in place with double sided tape until perfectly satisfied.

Great advice,used a long level and I have settled on just under 24" and 6".
Will drill and install on weekend.
It looks like the connection is just sitting there bundled up with the loom
