For what it's worth, I agree with placing the rack behind the engine as it's not very pretty and engines look much nicer!

Having said that, when Autocar magazine tested the car last year, they praised the steering very highly, and there was no mention of the current problems, so, it would be interesting to know why that car was different to the current production cars? I understand that the first cars had Suplex suspension fitted and that now Suplex are working on a rising rate suspension improvement system for the M3W that will be sold as an aftermarket kit.

Yes, but if the basic geometry is wrong, fancy shock absorbers are only masking the problem.

Had a bit of a run out today, lovely cool but sunny day.
Checked out my front shocks, they are actually Suplex. At least that's what is written on them. They have a yellow " spongy" spacer at top.
I still have bump steer though it is possibly better after changing to toe in.
However the steering arms are not horizontal but same as later cars and slope down to the wheel. Obviously the geometry must have been different with original prototypes?
My car is quite early, made April 2012'. Chassis 131
