Richard,
Thanks to yourself and everyone else for the good advice. I' ll probably go with the Librands system complete with manifold and have it fitted by an agent. My concern was if it would affect the tuning of the car and need setting up on rolling road etc.
Thanks again Phil. Strictly speaking yes, but in my older 4/4 I just adjusted the timing a bit. Try it first without.....

Mine was fitted by John MacDonald (now Beamish Morgan) and checked before and after on the dyno - but in my case and probably yours no tuning is needed or even possible as the Zetec ECUs appear to be impossible to re-program. The ECU will learn to respond to the greatly reduced back pressure.
I believe Librands have now changed to a 400cpi cat which is less likely to cause MOT problems. Mine is the earlier type which has 200cpi and requires to be run up to high temp to pass the emissions test - but it always does on the 2nd or 3rd pass so no worries.

In my experience (not of Librands) there is a reduction of noise in a 400 cell cat as compared to a 200 cell. Still a very pleasant sound but not so likely to attract unwanted attention I have come to the conclusion that, to get the full benefits of a sports exhaust, you need to look at the inlet side and a supplementary ECU such as the Omex.

Peter -- I sense the justification process for a spend on throttle bodies and ECU!!!! Quite normal really - I am trying to resist the same justification process too!!!
Cheers!

Does it goes like this: I've decided to buy a Morgan, Oh yes I think I'll have a sports exhaust system, after all it should sound like a sports car, Oh! Problems with emissions, ok change the cat for a 400 cell cat, Oh! I'm not getting quite the performance I would like and I'm still having problems with emissions, ok fit TBs etc. Oh! Morgan have just released a new model with all the features I want, <loop back to "I've decided to buy a Morgan">

Jay, I might think it make sense, my bank balance disagrees!! Switch to new Suplex springs -- that trumped the bank balance's arguments!!! - Booked in to have the front end done on way to Mog 13!
Cheers!

Actually I was having the same dilemma - upgrade or trade up. But after visiting the factory recently, I can see that the latest cars have very little "new" compared to my 2005 Zetec 4/4, apart from drivetrain and a different dash layout. I prefer the narrow bodied, narrow tyred 4/4, as many others do I believe, and I neither want nor need 220-300bhp in an 800kg car based on 40's technology. I would like a little more power if it can be achieved easily - certainly not a TB conversion though. And I have already made some significant upgrades, which are an investment in the car and also make it more "personal". A Librands exhuast (great), new S/S wires, AVOs (fitted myself ), new reclining/tilting seats (Allon White - really great - with heated element too!), round mirrors (great), door pockets, clear lamp lenses, LED "Cobra" light. And many minor items and bits of maintenance all of which leave my mark on the car. So my decision was made - she's a keeper and coming soon are the Suplex front suspension and some brake upgrades. Changing "up" to a good recent plus 4 for example would have cost in excess of £12k. Once I got out of the mindset of changing cars - I can see the point of having the car for life. ANyway it's hardly run in yet! Nigel

Richard - it took me a while to realise this! But it does add to the satisfaction of ownership rather than seeing the Morgan as just another consumer item, which it isn't. One day it will be "finished" or "just right" (but then again, probably not).
