This is a top tip from NickW, following my recent photo from our last factory trip of the reshaped sports seats with additional shoulder support. The backrest of the standard folding/reclining sports seats are only secured top and bottom. This means that you can get your hand behind.......
Nick has used memory foam, but I, naturally have used 4mm standard density neoprene........ I started out for one seat with 9" wide by 16" long, the idea was to fold it over to get 8mm thickness. The eventual width needs to be a shade under 8.5" so it doesn't show.
The next step was to secure the folded neoprene using my trusty selction of double sided tape. One length on the fold to keep it tight:
Then two more strips to hold it together:
Once stuck down, I trimmed the edges with Mr Stanley:
And slid the neoprene into place. It needs a firm pull to get it right to the top where the shoulder support is needed:
This photo shows the drivers side done and the passenger side still to do. I think you can see the difference. Ignore the wet patch, I have been cleaning off the black marks inside the hood!!! The beauty of this modification is that you can use a variety of things to do it, sponge is one, neoprene is another etc etc. Then it takes minutes to do, and can be undone in seconds. It feels a lot better, but needs testing on the road.

That didn't take you long Dave! I KNEW you'd use neoprene..... Don't forget you can do a spot at the base of the back too.....which I found very good. Nick
I cannot quite stay comforable for 2hrs+ in my (standard reclining) seats of my 4/4. More support is needed in the lower upright section.
Since my wife has an unused orthopaedic lumbar bolster (from when she had an Audi - the sports seats gave her sciatica) I shall adapt this. The support is made of shaped high-density foam so I shall cut it up and see if I can use a section to modify the profile of my 4/4 driver's seat. I would never have guessed the backrests can pull away from the main body of the seat.

Nick....HaHa! - well, being part time, having spent the last three days decorating bedroom number 2, I spent the morning in the garden, then made some time for myself in the garage this afternoon. I put the hood up to make sure it still fitted, cleaned the inside, and then thought AHA! Where's my 4mm standard density neoprene...........

Dave....I discovered this on my first long trip in the Morgan. My lower back was aching and I just happened to slide my hand down to discover the gap! Stuffed the lower bit with a couple of large dusters (all I had to hand at the time) Provided just enough lumbar support and they are still there some 2 years on! I do like your neoprene idea though so the dusters will come out!
P.S. What do you recommend to remove the black marks from inside the hood.....hood cleaner? I'm plagued with them.

Jays : When we got our Freelander the free cleaning kit came with a head lining cleaner which is a bit like a tough rubber, it is white and you just rub the marks and they disappear, I have used it several times due to our Irish Setter in the back. Next time in the garage I will try and remember to see what it is and let you know.

Folks - I bought an inflatable pad from Deemon Tweaks and I installed this at the base of the seatback behind the leather - this then gives an adjustable lumbar support -I really find it adds a lot to my comfort!!
