Some "before" and "after" photos of my rear mudguard installation. Forward edge bolted through the aluminium deflector (left in place) and the rear edge with a bracket onto the wooden frame. I know that the rear end is fixed and the forward moves with the suspension but it doesn't move much and the plastic mudguard is more than flexi enough the cope with it. No problems yet but its only done a few miles. I will let you know if it causes problems.

Has anyone tried working out if you could add a piece or pieces to the existing boot liner so that becomes a more effective mudguard. Wouldn't that be easier??

Or perhaps MMC could do a bit more design work on this and offer it as a replacement or additional part???

Am taking delivery of an aluminum mudguard and have floated the idea of attaching it to the boot liner. That way, when one needs access to the rear for anything, when you remove the liner the fender comes with it and access is granted.

I think that MMC could get behind this idea. I mean I love the retro feel and all but do we really need to wear dusters when driving these fabulous beasties? Isn't the leather flight jacket, leather helmet and white silk scarf enough?

Re: dirty seat belts, you all may be interested to know that on the latest cars, MMC have made up a plastic shield to cover the belts and keep them clean, they have also extended the plastic inner shield at the rear, which stops the mud being thrown up around the leather hinge stop, so having done all that, I suspect that stopping the problem at source is proving too difficult for the company, although clearly not for us intrepid owners.

I went for the cheapskate version of the rear mudguard, using a bit of aluminium that I had in my gash pile, which I bolted to the little deflector at the front and, using a suitable piece of metal, screwed to the ash frame, which supported the rear, and stopped most of the muck. Cost zero and less than an hours work.

Has anyone in the states found a good source for the fender/mudguard?

No, and I spent hours looking. Eventually after no response to my email inquiry from the place m3boy sourced his, a forum member (thanks Ian) picked one up and shipped it to me. Although shipping costs were several times the price of the mudguards.

So here are 12Pics of my solution of mounting the rear mudguard.

From "Stahlgruber" Art.Nr. 268 9393 .
It is an "Anhänger Hinterradkotflügel 22cm breit und 75cm Spannweite"

It is completely connected with the axel and is swinging parallel to the wheel.
It is also very stiff, so there is no wobbling at all.


In the front i fixed it only with one bolt since the original fender is mounted bit out of line/middle. So I made a "long-hole" to middle the plastic fender.
Even so I cut a bit out of the original fender where the belt drive runs through, cause it appeared to me a bit to close to the belt. just for safety.
The drop down towards the back I did on purpose to get the fender closer to the wheel with still enough of space in between.

On one pic you see the small but effective modification on the wiring to the rear lights. Since the cabel is original squeezed between the tank and the ash frame the isolation was already abrased (after 90 km!)

So maybe this will help you a little bit to find your personal solutions.

P.S. Finally I got it registered and drove my first kilometers ---> AWESOME!
