Correct me if I'm wrong...no really....but isn't the 0 to 60 figure 4.5 secs on the mk1 roadster.....so what makes this new plus 8 so particularly fast then? Wouldn't you expect it to reach 60 in 3.something?

As posted elsewhere, 0 - 60 is pointless. It's very dependent on traction and gearing. No idea what the real figures are for Mk1 Roadster, 3.7 Roadster or current Plus 8. My old 16M would crack 4 seconds to 60 apparently (3.4 to 3.8 seconds) but fat tyres, rear weight (mid engine) superbly technical traction control and an F1 gear change in 0.08 seconds (yes that's right - or near as dammit) means its achievable. Power to weight (520 Bhp, 1350kg) was only slightly better (very roughly 345bhp/ton vs 385bhp/ton).

The in gear acceleration times however are more real world, and quicker in the Plus 8 (against Roadsters not 16M). 3.7 Roadster however is still bloody quick (as I guess is Mk1 though I've never driven one).

Cheers

Mk1 only comes alive over 4k revs up to the limiter. (I've been told). innocent
