The max has perfect proportions, and being small makes it a better drive on real English roads. Having driven an LP640 the other week for research purposes I was struck by how much slower it was in the real world, as I was constantly worried about losing mirrors, and bogged down by its weight when cornering. I'm sure time and practice would make it a devastating tool, but its not like the Morgan that you can just hop in and drive like a big caterham...

hey guys, I'm a HUGE Morgan fan and would absolutely want my next ride to be Morgan but: - ecological; tax-wise/refueling... - economical; resale/insurance make it "not worth it" to buy a V8 in my region EVERY ROAD is max 70km/hrs with A LOT OF SPEEDTRAPS most roads even are max 50km/hrs
so, for car-addicts there is no more "choice" we have: economical daily (even in sportscar disguise: like caymanPDK) and a track-car on a BrianJames (me I don't have track-car; I ride my mountainbike for my speedkicks)
therefor: a cayman-competitor with a blown 4cyl is PERFECT

therefor: a cayman-competitor with a blown 4cyl is PERFECT 1560 - I don't think anyone doubts your Morgan credentials ! I have saved several of the wonderful photos of the Max you had. They show how much you love the car for certain For me the Morgan is about the experience, sound, alternative style statement, great driving pleasure. I think a smaller more accessible one would be good as the Cayman brings a lot of new owners to Porsche earlier than a 911. After all ladders need rungs on the bottom as well as the top. I would vote for the BMW 3L straight six from natural to twin turbo so they have a range like the F-Type. It has a great engine note and Morgans need good power-to-weight ratios to be fun. One of the team working for me is about to sell several souls, organs and the wife to get his hands on an F-Type in September so the market is there. I don't put the F-Type and the Cayman in the same bracket, the price difference spec for spec places the F-Type a step above it (try and spec one for 60k!) Can the complex engineering and production method of the Aero chassis sustain a product at this level (£60k) profitably for Morgan ? I doubt this as it was designed with a higher price point in mind, back in 1998 £60k got you a lot more beer than today. This is why I think there needs to be a more minimalist model under the Aero. Still using the same shape, style and experience but simple and cheaper to build. I just worry that they don't have the resources and funds to push it through to delivery under current and future legislation. I think the M3W, +8 and other models that they have done are a masterstroke from a low investment-high return point of view. I hope this provides a cashflow to forward invest in the new models. Very good business acumen. I would love to see something more akin to a modern aluminium chassis like the aero positioned above the Caterham and below the Aero/+8. Stripped right back to a tiny amount of components to make the handbuilt angle remain valid and keep Malvern busy and full of skilled people. The factory visit is a key part of ownership, can you imagine a day of "meet the robot" in Stuttgart? If they could use the 2L-I4/3L-I6 engines from BMW to hit tax, price and options for big power drifts. I am still not certain about a diesel, the economies don't stack up unless you do 25k miles per annum but maybe that's just the UK? This would make them very relevant in today's "choice" driven world. They could also play the options and upgrades game with more honesty than the lego kits of other vendors to increase margins. Just look at the upgrades on the F-Type and Cayman. I still don't know why they do not do this today. This has to be a good spot for them ? What did happen to the EVA ?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

BMW's current engine range is stunning, from the turbo fours to their traditional sixes. There would be a lot of interesting cars made with some choice picks.

I suspect the BMW engines may be too costly for a more economical range. Ford produce a huge number of crate engines and the 2L Ecoboost looks a good option at 255 PS (188 kW; 252 hp) at 5500 rpm, 270 lb·ft (366 N·m) at 1750–4500 rpm
Don't forget it is not just the engine that has a reduced cost, it is the entire drve train.
Also I understand that the Aero suspension system is rather complex and costly. A clever redesign with the use of stock components from another manufacturer would probably save here too.
