I'd noticed some wear on the rear pulley from quite a low mileage, but it recently seems to have increased. At the 4000 mile service a couple of weeks ago Krazy Horse thought it was more than expected .
Having now done another 500 miles there's not a lot left on the teeth, a new one is hopefully going to be fitted on Friday.
Has anyone else found the same ?
My 'car' was a mid Sept 2012 delivery ,I understand the newer ones have a different shaped pulley with a lip to stop the belt moving from side to side.

Are you talking about the sprocket on the wheel?

Mine seems okay with similar mileage but I was reading on a HD thread about sprocket wear and it seemed to be an issue when driving in dust environments as the belt picked up the dust and eroded the surface.

Yes , it is the one on the wheel, I did use it quite a lot in the winter when the roads were filthy ,but not in any particularly dusty conditions.
Its curious that yours is fine with a similar mileage .

My original rear drive was replaced last week at the Factory - and its the "new" style described by HPJ. It looks v different to the original - and a New Belt which is also v different.

My car has now done 4600 miles - May 2012

The new belt started squealing like a banshee after abt 50 miles - but sprayed Silicone Lube on it and it disappeared like a good un!so hope this is now fixed!

That's interesting as it's a very similar mileage , were you charged for the belt and pulley or was it done under warranty ? As they've changed the design I'd like to think it's covered , especially bearing in mind the mileage.

any chance we can get some pics of the new best and pulley. mine's a feb/march 2013 build and i'm curious to see how it compares to mine as i've had belt alignment issues

Guys I am no longer a bike expert my last 2 were cardan drive for exactly this reason.

I wouldn't expect a long life from such a system coupled to a huge engine and a poor cush drive. Maybe HD forums could comment.

I think I remeber bike chains lasting around the 10 -15 k mark with low power bikes like CB360 or Triumph T140Vs

I think modern o ring chains on bikes are pretty long lasting, although like you its a while since i had one .
Talking to people with Harleys I get the impression that the belts and pulleys are tough.
On my threewheeler the belt and front pulley look fine ,its just the rear one that's worn out , maybe the newer ones are a different material ?
