Thanks for the pic..are the in stock bevel boxes at the factory have defaults? How come new m3w have bevel box problems from new/factory? Are the replacements manufactured on a different date?

Just looked on http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp?tx=VOSA to see if what Morgan recalls there were- can't even find the manufacturer which seems strange. It sounds like a safety issue to me ? It's one thing having a moaning gearbox but one locking up at speed is quite another matter.

My first post - I'm in the market for a Morgan 3 Wheeler and have been researching for over 3 weeks. The mechanical noises and bump steer I've read about haven't bothered me so much; I considered those issues to be minor annoyances. However, Carsten's seized bevel box has me rethinking my decision to purchase.
I hope the manufacturer will explain what happened and issue a recall of the bevel box if this is a defect in the design so that I can get back to my shopping.

Really Quaiffe who manufacture the boxes should really be getting this sorted...they have a good reputation but this doesn't put them in a particularly good light.
Q8.....the bevel boxes are fitted to the chassis together with the engine and drivetrain prior to delivery to Morgan. With the turnover of cars I would have thought that all chassis being delivered by now would have the revised box fitted.

I am with you on this one!
At least so far, the bump steer hasn't really bothered me. Quite possibly the road conditions around here are better than in some other areas.
The noises are part of the overall package that provides an enormous amount of fun!
But I have to agree, I am expecting an explanation from Morgan how they want to prevent such dangerous breakdowns in future.
Once that's resolved, I would have to reommend to get a M3W ASAP. I was very happy with my decision to get one before the bevel box quit.

I wouldn't know if there already is a new production run of bevel boxes, without the defects. Or, if it is yet clear what causes the problems.

So there is no solution? Just take your morgan to a dealer & get it replaced on warranty from time to time
