Just changed the insurance on my cooking car from Direct Line to Headley.
The prompt to change was my infuriation at trying to phone Direct Line regarding the renewal. (5 attempts to call, each lasting 5 minutes, all on an 0845 premium rate number)
swear

I phoned Headley,(always had the 4/4 with them), got straight through to a really helpful lady; everything changed over with no fuss and I saved £12 on my premium.
thumbs

No links at all to Headley, just reaaly pleased.

Waqs that on your daily driver? - I might look at them when renewal comes up - 4/4 is with Headley and I have found them very good.

Before I dial a premium rate number I always look at http://www.saynoto0870.com which usually gives a regional number and, sometimes, even an 0800 (free call) number. In fact, the alternative Direct Line number for car insurance (0845 246 3761) is a free call (0800 6529614). Worth checking here before dialling.

I'd not thought about trying Headley for my main car....I use them for the Morgan and they have always been very competitive as well as easy to get hold of.

I've been with Esure for years for the main car even though I trawl the web at each renewal and they have been one of the best. Just those awful Michael Winner ads some years ago!

I moved both the Roadster and Golf to Headley from a multi Car policy.

Karen was exceedingly helpful and also managed to save Money overall.

0845 is not a premium rate.

In fact 0845 numbers used to be known as "lo-call" because they are charged at the local rate rather than a national one (although there are fewer people these days on land line tariffs that charge for local calls so the name was dropped).

I had a very interesting exchange with the dealer who has the 0845 number. My argument is that if I am buying a car, I don't expect to pay for the privilege of talking to the dealer. He would have non of it, and virtually said, in a roundabout way, that if you can afford a Morgan you can afford the phone call. A fair point I suppose, but guess what - he didn't get my business, nor will he in the future.
