I am looking to fit a free flowing sports exhaust to a 1999 Plus 4 T16. I know Librands do one, are there any other options and what sort of price are we looking? any thoughts on the best system

My Plus 4 was used as the prototype to make a 4 - 2 - 1 manifold. I believe the cost is about £385. When fitted with the sports exhaust system I find the car eccelerates better and there is more tourque in the mid range. I would recomend this system.

When I visited Chas Windridge of Mogsport fame to get some AVO shocks for my +4 T16, he suggested that to get much better breathing I should remove the restrictor plate that's spot-welded about half way along the internal pipe of the silencer. (This plate has an approx 1/2inch hole in it, so reducing the effective diameter of the exhaust pipe considerably).
The method he suggested sounded rather brutal – knock seven bells out of it with a long steel rod – but I tried it, and it worked! It's made a big difference, too. The engine is much more willing to rev, and the exhaust note has a bit more of a burble. And all this for zero cost!
Makes you wonder just what a 'sports' silencer is, though...?

I just replaced my librands exhaust because it was just too loud at cruising speeds. It was great while accelerating in low gears but it boomed too much at 60 or 70 making road trips unbearable after a while. BHM built a custom replacement. Still straight through but using a thinner bore pipe in places. Still sounds nice and dirty with my foot down but doesn't give me a headache on the motorway.

I have Librands exhaust & manifold. Works really well and I endorse what Oldbill says.

If you live in Bucks you are welcome to have a look and a listen

I've the same problem Bobajob. Tested at Castle Combe a couple of weeks ago at 96db. That was with a repackage silencer....the original Librands one is noisier! I'm having a bespoke one fitted in a couple of weeks hopefully.

I should add that my car and the librands system were 20 years old. The modern version is no doubt different. I was lucky enough to catch the man at BHM (Keith?) who designed then original system while he was changing out his own exhaust and he advised on the replacement. He was actually changing the exhaust on his beautiful black MOG for the same reason, less resonance at motorway speed.
