Was planning to come acroos in the Roadster for the goodwood revival but I left booking too late. Saturday and sunday are sold out. Entry tickets for friday are available. Does anyone know if the friday is worth going? I cant find a programme on the goodwood website to check what on on the friday. But I am guessing the best day is the sunday?

Cheers JJW

We went on the Friday last year and had a brilliant time, even though it rained for a lot of the time. If you are dead set on seeing actual racing rather than practice, you might find it disappointing, but my interest was in seeing the cars, planes and so on, so it really didn't bother me.

Even if you just went and spent 4 hours walking around the car park you'd have a good day out.

Friday is my favourite day, absolutely worth going to. It is the only day you get to see all the cars out on the track.

As well as the practice sessions there is also a race this year:
18:15-19:45 Race 1. Freddie March Memorial Trophy for cars in the spirit of the Goodwood Nine Hour races, 1952-'55.

Get there early and watch racing into the dusk. What could be better?

I usually go for two days, Friday to have a good look around and then Sunday to watch the race finals. I really enjoy the Friday because you get a great feel for the atmosphere, there used to be a lot fewer people but that doesn't seem to be the case any more.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will see if Friday is an option for us. Any of the grandstands a must?
Maybe we can find another event for the Saturday in the south of UK. (Suggestions welcome)

The newly opened Mary Rose museum looks very interesting in Portsmouth, and there's all the other Naval stuff in Portsmouth too - HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, the submarine museum. Or the National Motor museum in Beaulieu in the New Forest is always a good day out.

Bit more info please. What about parking? Any tips on avoiding jams on the approaches? What are the food facilities? Do you have to dress up period style? What about entry to pits or grandstand?
