Just had a call from George at Krazy Horse to say car is now fixed, it was a problem with the inertia switch . So will be back on the road this afternoon  This is good to know. One less item for head scratching.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Or any major bump. My understanding is that it will cut off the power to the fuel pump. Because modern fuel injection systems need a very high fuel pressure to work, it doesn't need much imagination to see the effect that petrol squirting out all over the hot engine could have!
They are reset by pushing down on the rubber cap on top, I guess there is a small button under. You can feel a small but audible click when activated. I have pulled a wire off before now, When I have needed to turn the engine over, without starting it - to get oil pressure for instance.

This is also a perfect thief protection, there are not so many people on this globe, who know about the wiring of a Threewheeler

Two of us thought we'd killed the Classics in Norway after hitting a bump in the road so severe it knocked the inertia switch. It is certainly easier to do than you expect and hitting a pothole too hard can do it.

I didnt realise they could be so sensitive Simon .In my case it seems it was a poor connection, wish I'd thought of checking it! Anyway as Michael says at least we now know of something easy to check if they won't start. And as Waldemar points out , a useful anti theft device

Knowing (now, after the explanations) what the inertia switch are for, it doesn't seem like a good idea to have it in the dash. With it under the "bonnet" (what is it called when there's no engine under it?) at least forces you to open it and have a look, perhaps catching a loose hose.
