An update on cracked screens. I had mine replaced last week by Williams and interesting to notice that Morgan seemed to have changed suppliers from Euroglass to Tyneside Safety Glass. I wonder if that is just coincidence or an attempt to solve the problem of cracking screens? I have a feeling Tyneside were the suppliers for my +8 back in 1994, full circle maybe. No problems with cracked screens in the 40,000mls in it either.

I wonder if that is just coincidence or an attempt to solve the problem of cracking screens? Was at the factory today, having a service and an at the last minute new door panels with elasticated pockets fitted, noticed the factory's own plus4 SS has a cracked screen! The crack in the the same place as the reported problem.

Not sure the change to Tyneside is recent, my 2008 4/4 (1.8 Duratec) has one of their screens fitted.
I wonder if it is possible to trace the cracked screens to any particular supplier.

I have suffered two stress cracked screens on my July 2009 4/4 Sport both of which were Euroglass.
The one fitted to my previous car a 1994 +8 was a Tyneside with no problems.

My guess is the two manufacturers end up with glass of the same properties.....
Like the canoe comment.

Like the canoe comment. But may be one of them cuts the glass more accurately!

I have experienced my first cracked screen after 4 Mogs, 8 years and 75.000 km in total a week ago on Saturday with my P4SS. And I guess why it happened in this special case (realized the possible reason after it was to late...)We had suddenly very warm weather here in Cologne, more than 23 degrees Celsius. Down in my basement car park it was subjectively felt about 8 or 9 Celsius, at least very cold. I drove her up and opened the roof outside in the warm air. Two minutes later the crack appeared and went down from the right upper corner to the bottom in an almost 60 degrees angle, very smooth and quiet. Possibly different thermal expansion coefficient of glas and frame...No accuse just reporting and perhaps a warning, let her take her time when facing so different temparatures before doing anything on the roof or touching the frame of the screen at all...

That's tough luck Heinz. Will your insurance cover it? I'd be interested to know if the screen was made by Euroglass.

I hope the insurance will cover it. Until now I'm waiting for the replacement and have still to inform the insurance company. This morning I went to the hospital with a chance to get an intervertebral disk operation during the next days after a sliped disc (and pain I didn't know is possible). After this episode I will have a look to see the make of the screen.
