I can't even fit a screen protector on a digital camera screen without messing it up. I could have years of fun (frustration?? ) with sheets of 3M film... Love it Graham! M

Most things in life are a compromise I'm afraid! You'll notice a stone chip from 20 paces but won't notice the film from 5!
Polish without a residue stops the edges standing out....we recommend Carnauba wax.
It's a "must have"!!

my Lotus had a clear plastic film ( Armourfend I think) applied to the nose and sills as standard by the factory. Within a few months it had got what looked like rust streaks underneath ( on glass fibre) so the supplying dealer had it replaced with an alternative which was less thick. This has given some protection ( the paint on the Lotus is very prone to chips for some reason) and its near invisible. It hasnt protected on one sill where I must have gone over something sharp which has cut through both film and paint.
Not sure I would pay to have a car filmed like this - all you are doing is protecting the paint for someone elses benefit and I doubt it makes the slightest difference to resale.

Cleaning the edges of Defendall/3M (same stuff) just different label, very hot water (not boiling) pour over and wipe along edge with something like or similar to cotton bud.
I have seen Aero's without this and yes they do look good, but 12000motor way miles in the Max and no chipped paint work, I would rather have it than not.

I bought some 3M film and fitted it myself. Not too difficult if you are patient. Very easy to remove with a hairdryer and renew if necessary.
Highly recommended.
Neil +1, Brought on eBay, created templates using graph paper stuck together with masking tape and carefully marked, then join the dots and cut out and checked for fit, transfered to 3m and cut out. Then fitted to front and rear wings, works a treat, have on front wing in one section and smaller section around indicator with small gap between the two, tried a one piece but I found curves too much to get a no wrinkle finish. A professional might do it. Cost about £60. PS Neil I still have your scrapper on my bench.

Just a thought...
I'm not sure whether it's even available in your area, but a good "temporary" paint protector that you could use is the clear Plastidip spray. I know some folks have used the stuff as a track-day paint guard, and it just peels right off after you're done with it.
