My matt Green responds perfectly to a simple wash and leather off, nothing more. Easiest paint finished I've ever had. simples!

We have the same livery. Just picked it up Friday. We're big fans of Griots Speed Shine. We tested it first in an inconspicuous spot and it works great! Removes finger prints and smudges and doesn't affect the matte at all.

Washed my Matt Army Green for the first time this week. Just used warm water in a new bucket and a new sponge, but was surprised to see a definite green tinge to the sponge develop during the wash. Rinsed the bodywork with fresh water, in another new bucket, and another new sponge then chammy leathered (new chammy leather) to give a great finish.

I used a different sponge for washing non bodywork parts and my old chammy leather to dry off. Finished off with Windowlene to wipe bugs off the screens and other shiny bits, which also came up great.

What do other folk recommend to polish up the engine and filler cap?

The leather trim came up fine after a wipe down with the old chammy leather, but should I really be using something else?

From my cursory reading, you'd want both a grit guard at the bottom of the bucket and something else to dry it off than a chammy. A silicone scraper (as the ones used in bathrooms, but in silicone) should be just the ticket. The idea is that you don't want grit or hard surfaces to wear out the non-reflective properties, as you can't "buff it out" as you would a normal looking car.

With this in mind, and although expensive, I would buy Swissvax's "opaque" wax (and precleaner etc.) to protect the surface. It's easier to keep a waxed surface clean. Speaking of which, I'd be slightly worried if my soap/sponge took off colour from the matte surface, as that means it is taking off or rounding off the surface. Matte/"opaque" wax would protect it from that.

I have to say I'm not some perfectionist in this regard, and I could never be a detailer (I don't like shiny stuff, for one), but if one has chosen matte paint, you might as well protect it a bit. Not pamper it or anything, but get a good protective coating on it, as you can't buff anything out. The bonus is, of course, there is no need to buff anything. So it's wax sprayed on (put in bucket water?), and that's about it.

AQM - A grit guard in the bucket sound a really good idea - didn't realise there was such a thing available. Now ordered one from Amazon.

I have always used a chammy leather on my cars, but maybe I blow drier might be a better bet for matt paint in the long run. Will investigate further.

Expensive kit is Swissvax - anyone use it on their Matt M3W?

Was concerned about the green tinge on the sponge. Being it is the first time I have washed the car it may be residue from the factory preparation. Next wash will be with yet another new sponge (50p each at B&Q, and also benefits from 3 for the price of 2 - there are worse ways to spend a whole £1). If more green tinge I will report to dealer at first service, but I would like to think that Morgan know what they're doing when it comes to paintwork!

Use a microfibre drying towel rather than a chamois and pat dry, dont rub. Silicone srapers can pick up grit and then drag it across the paint, best avoided.

I'd also suggest a microfibre wash mitt rather than a sponge as well....far gentler and wont hold grit on the surface which sponges can do.
