It turns out that the vinyl in the picture looks very much like the script on the spinners:

It looks like it could be based on some fonts I've seen before, but it's an old enough design to realistically suggest it's unique. The shapes are relatively simple enough that, given a good starting point (a flat scan of the actual badge) I could easily replicate it in Illustrator.

Ah! Thanks! I was trying to place where I'd seen that design before without derailing the thread on a wild goose chase! thumbs

I think you're right.

I managed to find Charles' signature which might be him emulating his predecessors:

And this (although it's a bad quality gif:

Heck, might not even have to scan it, just found this:

With a little bit of Photoshop editting that should make a great starting point!

Great!

And I just remembered I've got, if I recall correctly, Peter Morgan's signature in a book at home... should take a look and see how those match up!

I am fairly certain the Morgan script is a design, and not a current typeface font. I was doing something at the factory the other day, and we were trying to find out some details, but without luck.

Agreed.

I often wonder how well documented some of their (older) designs are. I work at a semiconductor cleaning equipment manufacturing company, and they've got poor documentation for equipment made by engineers that've worked here in the last decade, never mind the last 50+ years! surrender

OK, so, good(ish) news, bad news, good news.

Got home, found my rear script emblem. (good...ish) woohoo

The "n" is gone, as in completely snapped off, and it wasn't there when I took the car apart. I knew part of it was missing. (bad) banghead

Just took another look at Morgan Spares' web store, a replacement one is only $28. I think I was looking at the front emblem when I saw the ~$130 price tag earlier today. (good) spend

I'm going to order a new rear emblem, and when it shows up I will still scan it in and see about making a vector file of the logo for everyone to use. I started poking away at the project earlier today while I was running some parts on the CNC router at work, but the low resolution of the images was making it more work than I wanted to spend time on.
