New car so no worn components (hopefully). Have been putting a few miles on past couple of days and started to notice that the steering wheel is easier to turn left than right. The effect is more noticeable as speed increases and almost disappears at very low speeds.

Tracking?

Find a flat straight road, and with car moving if you let go of steering wheel see if it veers off to the left or right, if it does then the tracking is not right.

Is it a red car ? Sounds like it might be socialist.

When I took delivery of my new 4/4. The tracking was all to pot. Infact IMHO verging on dangerous. But be warned go to a Morgan dealer with the proper kit to sort it. Not the usual tyre suppliers as their equipment can't cope with the Morgan set up. Also get the toe in checked mine had toe out, bit weird.

If the tracking is faulty on a new car this needs feeding back to MMC in no uncertain terms.

I think all the new ones are rack and pinion? However a similar fault with this and the steering box of earlier cars could account. A decent garage and a full alignment kit will find this, although there are simpler ways, and it could be sorted out in some garages at home.

Basically, I doubt straight ahead, is actually the box or rack centre. With a box equipped car, you find straight ahead on the box (pretty easy) and then move the clamp on the drag link so the car goes straight when the box is centred.

With a rack, the ends need to be the same length. Usual way they get displaced is a garage fits new tyres, offers to do the tracking, and only adjusts one end. With this the steering wheel position moves.

Given the problem though, I'd certainly jack up the whole front end and give it a good inspection including measuring the exposed thread length on the steering rack ends.

OP said "new car" so back to the dealer, surely.

Odd that this is something that has appeared with use, so find it difficult to blame the rack or the tracking.
I'd check tire pressure as a first thought, possibly a slow puncture....or perhaps not enough grease in the suspension on one side and it is getting stiff?
If the tire pressure is OK then clearly the dealer needs to check the front suspension.

The wheel alignmnt could have moved due to potholes.
I hit one at speed in my Merc, not only did it put a balloon into the tyre by the track rod was damaged.
