I've been struck very recently by some of the model names that manufacturers are now using. OK, I accept that we've always had the occasional eccentricity: eg Ford Edsel ( named after Henry's boy, of course) Colt Starion (all those jokes about Japanese pronunciation). Renault Vel Satis to name but a few, and we've also had the PR speak to accompany the reason for these names eg Mondeo because it is a 'World' car However, are things now getting worse WE have the 'UP'. the 'ADAM' and ( my own personal favourite-not) the TOCA - which I misread the first time I saw it as the TWOCA Any to add? Cheers G

I had a Floride (Renault ) sounds like a tooth paste add . When they brought out the UPi . There was a hope they may approach me for writes to use my reg plate and a free VW for Jnr. I am waiting for the Eve to come out and think of the laughter if Adam is stuck into the back of Eve after a bump ( yes the bump does come after !!!! ) .

Mitsubishi Pajero and Skoda Yeti come to mind. Pajero in Spanish has very odd connotations. I'll leave that to you to Google.

I think the Mitsubishi name was mainly for UK? It was called something else in RoW (or was it the other way around? ? As for the Yeti - kind of understand that one - fair bit of room for large people together with good traction...

The one that has me in stitches is the renault Wind. But I guess it's apt, as it looks like a farty little car.

[As for the Yeti - kind of understand that one - fair bit of room for large people together with good traction... [/quote] +1. The name I can never understand is the Qashqai. Did a bunch of blokes honestly sit around in a boardroom agreeing that would be a good idea? I guess someone is now going to tell me its derivation and how apt it is...

That's it, Shogun here (and a few other markets) - should remember that, Sister's 4x4 was a LWB model - Pajero in USA and much of RoW... Need more and port to go with tonight's cheese...
