With regard to powder coating, there has been some criticism because it can get water underneath, and on front suspension components stone chips will show on it, but when I had that problem on an old Caterham, which always come with powder coated parts, I found that rubbing down the damaged area to bare metal, and spraying with a Satin finish black paint, maybe Hammerite smooth or similar, worked so well that it was almost impossible to see the repair. Worth bearing in mind for future repairs.

I have used a paint called POR 15, for details try this: http://www.por15.com/. The kit comes with a pre-cleaner and primer, works very well, looks good and is durable. It is a paint and can be brush or spray applied, also touched in if needed. It is available in the UK from Holden, along with others.

For it to work correctly you have to have a bare metal surface to start from. thumbs

Blake, I hate to impose on you considering all the great info you've already provided this forum thumbs, but do you have any pics (or even just a description)of the areas that are corroding? I'm thinking I'll try to paint these areas as soon as I get my car, as the humid conditions in Houston are notorius for causing early surface rust on unpainted metal. I have tools in my garage that rust up pretty quickly just sitting around if I don't oil them.

Probably alot easier than letting them corrode and then dealing with the problem...

Cheers!
