The last time I went up Shelsley was as a passenger with Greg Dixon Smith in his factory race Plus4SS. He drove up at his usual race speed and I was hoping for some idea of the racing line from an expert, Fat chance, it all happened in a blur of noise and G force! It did out it all into perspective though...how important it is to know the handling of your car at the limit and have confidence in it and your abilities. Being clamped into Tillet race seats and full harness makes a huge difference too! How you reach the handbrake in a harness I'll never know but then who uses it in competition?

I had planned to take my car up but after that experience I though it would be an anti climax and also provoke me into driving past my limits! After all its all for fun.

Taking my Plus 8 up and terrified I'll get a rush of blood to the head and give it some welly. Good news that it's not timed (at least not by the organizers), and non-competetive. Some good advice here, it's not the worlds oldest motor sport venue for nothing and there are some good examples posted on You Tube of how tricky it can be. See some of you there.

Shelsley whilst narrow is pretty straight forward unless you have a real racer. Do the drivers school for a first feel of the hill. I ve competed there in a Westfield and a mgb and the steepness of the hill helps restrain too much exuberance!!

Before we all get too enthusiastic.....better to remember that this is NOT a competition!

When they planned the event do you suppose anyone took into consideration that the Malvern Autumn Show is on that same weekend? Decent accommodation is all booked out. We finally booked at the Old Rectory at Cradley.
