bits of my suspension are starting to look incredibly rough due to the unpainted nature of the parts/morgan's decision not to paint them. I seem to remember seeing a few instances of people getting their front suspension painted (mostly bright colors to match their cars) but i was looking for something more like matte black or low gloss black.
I'll be perfectly honest that some of my motivation to paint/clean it all up is based on how rough the car looked compared to the ace cycle car that belongs to a gentleman i've become friends with. while the ace's front end is gorgeous (and let's not make this thread about bump steer and design issues) part of me would love to have polished bits everywhere, but i'm becoming ok with just painting them and getting rid of the parts that show a bit of rust/wear.
thoughts/suggestions? not sure if powder coating or painting is the best option.
would love to get everyone's thoughts as well as any pics from those who have had it done.

It's quite easy to get things such as the springs/ shockers etc off and then paint them( I've used a good quality two pack paint on mine) so long as the surface is absolutely grease and dirt free. However, if you go to that amount of trouble, then why not powder coat while you're at it? Usual disclaimer- mine is a 4/4 not a three wheeler

Many worship at the altar of powder coating, but once the water gets underneath it will lift and is hard to patch.
That's why I've always stuck with paint.

That's why I've always stuck with paint. Wouldn't disagree Dave- if they are painted, there's always the option of touching up. just happen to like the look of P/C Mind you, I suppose if we take it a stage further, even if we are talking about a galv chassis, as soon as any hole is drilled for anything then the whole [protective barrier of the galv is compromised. So I guess it's the best overall job we can do in the circumstances? Cheers G

There are some very sharp edges on the front suspension components which I would have thought would compromise powder coating. Painting with regular touch ups would be preferable IMHO

We have a posh radiator in the bathroom G. Powder coated, and it's lifting round the welds. It's the second one. The first went just the same. Manufacturer didn't want to know, and tried to say it was internal. Hurrumph!
It looks fantastic until it lifts, then it really p*sses me off. Paint every time for me.

suggestions on kinds of paint if it sounds like power coating is an issue?

When I did the MGB suspension I had it shot blasted, then applied an etch primer, followed by a 'chassis black'. Things have moved on a bit since the 90's but a google search should throw something up.

The (DTM) "Direct-to-Metal" system is going down well with heavy plant and truck repairers.
