Have you tried re-seating that hose yourself David? Or do you suspect it's the wrong diameter?

I suspect its the wrong diameter - water appers to be forced out from the side of the hose. Unless its a deeper cooling/ pressure issue - http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/Roadster37CoolingIssue.html

I have spoken again with my dealer today and I appreciate the quandry they are in. Apparently there are half a dozen or so customers from my dealer alone waiting on Morgan at the moment and all are experiencing delays and jumping up and down. Morgan are aware of the delays but are apparently snowed under due to a couple of absences in their service dept caused by bereavances - in such a small dept 2 people out plus I guess the usual summer holiday absences makes quite a dent in their ability to service customers.
Without Morgans input my dealer does not have a parts number for the hose and is prevented from ordering the new hose which is almost certainly going to be needed. I can take my car to the dealer and they can look but they feel that a new hose will certainly be warranted rather than a patch up job (which has already been done by Harpers)- and to order this they are reliant on Morgan. So catch 22 !!! They reccomend waiting a bit longer until Morgans service and spares team are running at capacity.
In the meantime I can run my car - keeping an eye on the temperature which always seems ok - and replenishing the header tank with tap water.

I can't see why they(the dealer) can't stick another hose on there to try if it's the hose that is causing it. It may not last for too long if using a sub-par hose, but at least you'd be able to go for longer drives until MMC get it together on their end. It's a hose, not, say, a pump, camshaft or something.

They probably could do that as a temporary measure - if I could find the time to round there over the next few weeks (100 mile round trip !).

I appreciate that this sort of thing shouldn't happen, but focus on the outcome you want - which I would think is to have you car working properly as quickly as possible. So how about this:
1. Drain the coolant and remove the hose 2. Take the hose to a decent motor factor and get a replacement. Easiest would be a motorsports specialist who could make you up something from silicone sections 3. Fit new hose, refill with coolant, get car back on road 4. Send old pipe to dealer to order a replacement when MMC have got over their current staff shortages 5. When new hose arrives, make an appointment with dealer to fit new pipe 6. Keep old hose and fit temporary pipe as spares

An interesting link to Gomog and a bit of a coincidence that, even though you are driving normally on the road, you are beginning to experience the same symptoms as the race cars.
Whilst a bit of a bodge, you could slip the hose off and wrap some insulating tape around the metal part of the pipe, to take up the slack, which will stop the hose bulging.
It seems to be a case of waiting in line with everyone else then.
Oh, the joys of dealing with a small manufacturer!

What about a cable tie or wire then the hose clip as a temp fix...may take up any slack or out of round better than a hose clip alone???? Pure guess here.

Not in any way wanting to diminish Davids very real problem, but isn't it interesting that as a predominately male site, we don't so much sympathise with him, but try and figure out ways of curing the problem?
Seeing as I started it, please be aware that you do indeed have our full sympathy...... and we will still try and suggest ways to fix it. Maybe 'Mumsnet' [whoever they are] would be the right place for a group hug and a cup of tea?

I am delighted to have all of the above tips - very useful and gratefully received and they are all being mulled over Practical help and advice is the male equivalent of female sympathy ! Mind you a hug and a cup of tea is always welcome
