I've got a very similar but slightly fancier Russian clock that I'm assured was a MIG fitting. Maybe, but it is surprisingly heavy for an aircraft fitment.

Originally bought for the three wheeler, but it's not a very easy shape to cut, and when a proper period car clock turned up at the Morgan Three Wheeler club South East Centre auction I bought that and fitted it. Case was just a circle, so fairly easy to cut.

See the clock at the left hand side of the dash.

It's still nicely ticking away and keeping spot on time! The next job it to take it apart and take the paint on the bezel back to alloy......and then take a deep breath and cut a hole in the dash shocked2

I've been watching a NOS Mig clock on eBay and have been sorely tempted by it for months; John, can you please let me know how loud the 'tick' is in a quiet room - I have designs on one for my office but I don't enjoy 'tick tock' whilst I'm reading documents, etc.

Simon, its more of a fast tick tick. ( 2 ticks per second ) Whilst it's not overly noisy you would hear it in a quiet room but the sound level probably depends on what you mount it on,
They can look good mounted as a desk clock...Steve Simmonds has a couple.

Simon,

You would not be happy in a quiet room with me then, I have an artificial valve in my heart, and in a small quiet room like a waiting room it is funny watching people suddenly look for the wall clock.

Most people dont notice it, but when I get a massage I do get some strange looks.

Its been there for 14 years now and my friends are all used to it. thumbs

Better than the alternative shocked2

As you said, better than the alternative thumbs

My parents bought me an antique clock for Christmas many years ago - it isn't the prettiest thing but I like the patina of it and like the emotional attachment; however, I soon realised I can't wind it. The moment you do, it sounds like Big Ben is in the room with you; therefore, it has become useless for the intended purpose. doh

Thanks for the insight John - sounds like I'm better off with a digital laugh2

Jay,
I am sure this is telling you to suck eggs, but just in case --- make sure to tape the front of the dash surface with masking tape or the like before you start to cut -makes a handy surface to draw the outline of the cut, but stops the surface of the dash splintering. Yes -- don't ask!!!!!!!!

Cheers!

Very good.

I like the sound of a clock ticking - preferably a slow pace e.g. Grandfather style. Very soporific goodnight - maybe that's why I have digital clocks in most cars?? grin2

Will have to buy another one for the 'new' car...

laugh2 Been compared to worse.

My mother in law had a oldgit cuckoo in her hallway, we lived with her before we got married for a couple of months, it used to chime on the 1/4 hour and really go to town on the hour.

Never heard it after the first couple of weeks. listening

This bad boy tells me the time clearly day or night and even the date. I think it suits my M3W.

Strangely I have another watch that tells me the month and year but I can generally remember those myself.
