I'm sure buyers of the Max bought theirs not only for its stunning good looks but also for its collector's value (investment) because of its limited build numbers. I bought mine on that premise alone - just hope I won't be disappointed like the Aston buyers! And what better way it is to enjoy one's investment than by driving around in one? laugh Out of interest, which Max was the one that was written off? Chris

Can't remember off top of my head - its listed on the aero register spreadsheet.
I doubt they could make another now anyway, I would think the tooling has moved on etc..

I am well advised that MMC will not build nor repair any more Aeromax's, (small Panel Repair maybe) but not a category repair for sure.

The Purple Max that was advertised on ebay now resides in the South of France on french plates, beware if it comes up for sale, however I am now in contact with the repairer and his work is first class. He was asked to convert it to LHD but did not have the time, this may take place some where else as I here the Purchaser is well minted.

The Aeromax which was written off and rebuilt, in spite of MMC refusing to supply parts, is well documented on Talk Morgan (the chassis number and iirc photos).

The car that was built for David, after he wrote his car off, was built under compassionate grounds and, I believe I speak for those of us who spent his last Aero Club holiday with him, I'm glad MMC chose to do so.

I started to document the Aeromaxs in the UK but lost interest after the first couple of years. There are a ton of photos on Flickr, Google, etc, and like Rich has found, it becomes a thankless task and time intensive.

If anyone is serious about buying a RHD one, they are always welcome to contact me and I will see what information I can locate for them.

That makes 104 total technically.

Just to get the Max history correct Rich, I think you'll find that the 1x4.4L prototype was written off by XM, not a journalist...

Gentlemen, your input has been very informative. thumbs And I hope for all of us Max owners that no more will be built for whatever the reason - not least that it would devalue our investments! Coming back to Hamster's car, I understand from Deano that Malaysia was it's final home. Is there anyone there who can verify that with images and such like? Chris

I've see no pics of it appear since leaving the uk.
I have pics of the acid green car in Singapore, but that's the closest I have to a private car in that area.

As Simon said the last built car was made for a very special reason, and the originator of that car is no longer with us. I don't know the full story, but I think from my limited knowledge that it was certainly the right thing to do, and I'm glad that Morgan being the flexible human company it can be can make those calls. This situation was a world away from the frankly cynical profiteering on the v12v by Aston Martin.

As for our cars being investments that will be the case one day I'm sure...

100 customer cars

2 prototypes - exactly as Rich stated a 4.4 version and a 4.8. The factory kept the 4.4 and sold off the 4.8 (Rich's car). Subsequently, the 4.4 was written off and a replacement was built so that MMC still had an Aeromax for their collection and museum. This is the car Charles drives and has chassis 000 - I have been told this car will never be sold by MMC.

The late David's car was a direct replacement for his written off Max but because the VIN couldn't be reused was given a VIN above the 100 number. I do have a note of it somewhere and the owner is on this site.

There have been other RHD/LHD Aeromaxs written off and not rebuilt, so the number will now be below the 100 mark.
