I have problems with rust on my 3 months old fivespeeder.

Here, I will paint with a rust-stopping paint like Hammerite:



Here, too, I think, Hammerite will do the job:



But here, inside of the bolts of the chromed cylinderheads, whats the best way to get rid of the existing rust and to prevent further rusting:

Buy stainless steel bolts

I have used ACF50 on all the places you mention and it has kept the rust under control , as mentioned in other posts it is sometimes better to put it on with a small brush , especially near the brakes ! I thought it might not work on engine bolts but it has .
I am planning to repaint the bars supporting the headlamps as the paint is lifting in places , it doesn't seem to be the same quality as the rest of the front end .

I don't know ACF50, is this procuct colorless to use on/in the bolts or has it a colour like Hammerite?

It comes in an aerosol can , it is i suppose a sort of oil ,it doesn't set hard and is very good at seeping into hard to get at places . It has a faint purple colour, once on it looks clear .

May be in Germany it`s WD40!?

No! Its very different to WD 40 .

ACF50 is not easy to get hold of - just ordered some via ebay:)) it was£14.50 so not cheap either but a great product which works!

ACF50 is not the same thing as WD40, similar but more effective. It is a good corrosion inhibitor but requires an occasional clean and re-application, not a once only treatment. It has excellent "creep" qualities and gets into those areas where corrsion can easily start. I have used it on helicopters operating in the North Sea and they didn't rust away! The Harley guys seem to use it quite often on their bikes as it doesn't bake on and leave any crusty residues on the hot bits. Good stuff.

For areas not seen so much, like around the rear wheel, I would suggest something like LPS 3 as it is a longer lasting waxy coating. The best way to reduce the corrosion attack on the poorly protected M3W is not to expose it too much in the first place. For me, when the salt goes down on the roads it stays in the garage. Not a popular move with many I am sure but it will be interesting to see how things are looking after 2 or 3 winters. I don't enjoy freezing my parts off in an open car with no heater in the winter, so no hardship if it stays indoors for a few months.
