But the Morgan doesn't trade on that, instead it goes down the road less well trodden. It tugs at your heart strings with looks that only a mother could love; it serenades you with a soundtrack that Killing Joke would have been proud to have written; and it reminds you, without a shadow of doubt, that driving, real, unfettered driving, is about emotion. It is about making you smile. And in the case of the Morgan, it is about making everyone else who sees and hears it smile too.

This must be one of the best write-ups of a SuperSport that I have read Ken. The only thing that I don't understand is that having been won over in this way, why you didn't buy it on the spot? innocent

I must say that having had several Aero's, and they all had their strong points, the SuperSport is the one that I preferred out of all of them.

Unfortunately I've now sold it, as I have another Mog on order in the system, but the guy who bought it was so enamoured that he bought another Aero (LH-drive) for his house in France, despite the fact that he has a collection of cars already! woohoo

A gratuitous photo in memory...

Don't hesitate Ken, just go for it.. tumbleweed

Cheers

Chris Harris has just taken a B3 for a bit of a spanking http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=28361

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

A quick update to explain where things have got to.

The dealer finally came back with an offer on mine as part exchange - but the offer was extremely low. I countered with my only extremely low offer for the Morgan.

His response was, unsurprisingly, a short email saying my offer was too low, I simply replied with "That is exactly what I thought about your offer for the Alpina".

And so the deal is dead. I will monitor the price over the winter - it seems odd that he is happy to hold onto the Morgan for another 6 months - as he is unlikely to find a buyer much before April now.

Meanwhile on Monday I hit the passes in the 328 Convertible - 18 years old and still happy to be spanked to within an inch of her life. It was myself and a friend (993 Carrera) - and clocked over 500km - in order: Klausen (North-South), Lower Gotthard (Amsteg-Andermatt), Furka (East-West), Grimsel (South-Top), Grimsel (Top-South), Nufenen (North-South), Lukmanier (South-North), Oberalp (East-West), Klausen (South-North).

"Topless 18 year old enjoys spanking"!!!

Just jealous of the roads you have so close (compared to here...).

A day in the Black Mountains and Brecons would be about the same. And equally as rewarding.

And so - I am back.

After another 6 months of working hard I am once again tempted by some V8 badness.

I managed to keep my wallet in my pocket last year - sort of. I tweaked my existing Alpina to a more aggressive exhaust and a remap - in the vague hope it would keep me interested.

That failed!

And so I am looking at the Supersport again. The dealer is still being a little reluctant to offer me a good deal though.

A couple of questions:
- What is the highest miles anyone has see on these cars? And how high can they go?

- Are they reliable? IE am I going to pull it out of the garage for evenings drive and it not work?

After 1 year and roughly 10.000 km it never had any major problem (even with 400 km in one run). Maybe leaks here and there, the engine light quickly fixed and not much more.

400km - pah - in theory I would be driving it back to the UK at Easter - 2,500km round trip + any drives there!!

Are they generally expensive to run? Services costs? Do they use the BMW service intervals or fixed ones?

Despite spending many many many CHFs on a car - I am reluctant to go into it without knowing how much my trousers will be pulle down at a later date!
