Nearly run out of insurance miles on the Elise, 8000 pa policy and I'm up to 7200 with six weeks until renewal. 3000 in August including a blast to SW France

Noted on the miles. Guess it was a good trip into la belle France? On another note, I have just had a good laugh out in the garage. Nick, from BHM, phoned this morning asking if the previous owner could have his badges back - not a problem, Martin had mentioned it when we first went to collect the car and mine are already fitted, on the old bar from RTA. So, I removed the required RAC (he would like the AA badge... - bit of confusion there!) and Touring Club of France. Looking at the wider bar, I might refit it "upside down" as many people call it - I could get at least one more badge on that, and in the 'lowline' setting there is hardly any interference to radiator airflow. Put the required badges in the car and thought, "lets have a real look at these hood swivels". Odd they only move 1/8 of a turn... Flashlight, hmmm, coming up against an end stop one end and against the frame the other way - that's definitely not right. scratch head... Surely if that was on the other side things would move further, hang on, got a pair here going to Owen (Bilibib) when we meet up at Shelsley, where's the instruction sheet? Sure enough, they've been fitted to the wrong sides - guess the owner really didn't use the hood! Now rectified and things operate as intended! Must take a photocopy of the instructions for future reference!! Just in case

The Elise could have been made for French ' D' roads Stopped for a week in a cottage in the middle of nowhere (about 40 miles west of Toulouse) and was promptly snapped by a SELOC member when we parked up to visit a market Glad to see you are getting to grips with your new car, Ford or Rover engine?

I'll have a look at your swivels Graham. I dropped on a new set on ebay, but the threaded hood pivots are way too long, and before I cut them shorter I need some reassurance!
Yes I stayed with M..... but I stood on the edge of a precipiece, and nearly jumped. Mind you this is so much more fun.

Don't think there was a Rover engined 4/4 Richard. Ford 1.8, early Zetec. Looking forward to Shelsley Brian - lots of people to catch up with!

It is (one of them - apparently there were a couple of variations). Even who doesn't like yellow (or red) seems to have come round to the colour... At least it will stand out on the road

Soon lose the ability to spot the subtle differences between the models once you leave the camp, mind you Elises are even more confusing, perhaps I'm just getting old
