Most of them don't even know how to check oil level, or add fluid to a windscreen washer bottle... shocked2

I agree about servicing and also the amount of owner 'fettling' required .
People are now used to treating cars like domestic appliances .
Having said that my sons ( 18 and 23 ) and their friends are all enthusiastic about my 3 wheeler .

I bought my first 4/4 when I was 34 and coming after my Elan and MGB, thought that I had made a dreadful mistake even though I had a brochure pinned to my kitchen wall since the 70's. Three Mogs later and thirty years have proved it to be a lasting affair.

It might be different here in the states. A lot of my friends are very great when it comes to working on cars (tons of custom engine work) but not too many of them are into LBCs. More into American muscle and japanese cars (including old Datsun Zs and 510s).

I'm 27 and have the morgan, a 370z, and a 200sx...

Reckon it's primarily cost followed by perceived image.

When you're in your teens and early twenties it's cost + in some cases the image factor....Lotus would be the brand the young-un's would be leaning towards rather than Morgan.

When you're in your thirties it's kids and hardwork

When your in your forties, you start dreaming about it more, and if you have the money and a place to keep it you take the plunge..

..but it tends to be the fifties when you start saying to yourself if I don't live my dream now, I never will.

I regard myself as being very fortunate because I got my Morgan in my mid forties.

I bought my first Morgan in 1978, also aged 27 and my current Mog this year aged 62.
Once a Morgan owner always a Morgan owner!

I wanted one from the first time I sat in one at the '75 Earls Court Motor Show but had to wait a further 35 years before I could afford one. As they say, everything comes to he who waits!

My first Morgan was a Series 2 back in 1967. It was secondhand and I had a Mini Cooper to part exchange. It was a priced in line with sporty saloons of the time. The price gap between mass production and hand built has become greater with efficiency in production and scale. Secondhand values of the Morgan are great for owners but not good for a youngster starting with a Morgan.
My son is looking for a classic and is thinking MG Midget, Healey Sprite. £10000 would buy a really good one. A Morgan at that money would need serious restoration.
