By the way, the gearbox has an external slave cylinder, and is canted over to the nearside. The level plug is on the nearside so is lower than it would be if level. so to refill the gearbox will need the car to be higher on the nearside to get the right level. It also has an old fashioned square plug............

A question, Dave, is a car supported on bricks under the wheels considered sufficiently stable to work underneath? Or do you have stands under the axles too as security?

Correction - I can now see they aren't bricks, but what are they?

What gearbox is in your new car Dave? I thought external clutch slave cylinders were out of fashion and concentric ones were universally fitted these days. I happen to like the old school external slave cylinders as fitted to my 69 4/4

With an internal one on the Hippo, I hate them - engine and box out when it needs replacing at
In all my other LR products a nice simple external, easy for me to change (though not always bleed!!).
As for both 4/4s: a nice simple cable

Factory underseal Frank. I'm not keen, as it gets sprayed over everything, but doesn't stick where it matters - you'll see in a future picture. The gold trophy is the SSS&S trophy which we've not awarded lately.
Nick - some of the inside of the door is yellow - yes.
Nigel, not bricks but wooden towers screwed and glued and very stable. I made them from offcuts, and they can be used either the way you see them here.or on their sides for a slightly lower lift. I've given it a really good shake, and it's rock solid. However I won't linger underneath without additional precautions.
The gearbox is supposed to be MX5.

From the factory....Sport Yellow is Hyundai NFA (Dynamic Yellow).
