If the nut is not self tightening and or a locking washer fitted it seems unforetunately likely.
Still that would be easy to fix.

Welcome, and despite the doubters the failure and repair was close to what I posted earlier. Glad you are enjoying your 3W and now you have found us don't be a stranger

Wow! This keeps getting more and more frustrating. It's been a month since the failure and they still don't have the parts to fix the car or a solid date on when they will have it fixed. Several times they've said that the parts were shipped and would arrive xxx only to recant a few days later and say the parts hadn't shipped yet. How is it possible that a company that sells thousands of cars with the same engine doesn't have any spares for parts?!

Morgan certainly doesn't sell thousands of the Three Wheelers and I suspect that with most if not all the engines (which come to Morgan pre-assembled into the chassis) already spoken for for build slots, any spares would have to be ordered by the Factory from S&S in the States. Most likely it is the same for spare engine parts for the other cars Morgan manufactures, apart from service items.

It took my dealer a month to get mine back on the road. I don't blame the dealer for the sickening delay, I blame Morgan.
When parts are available from the local S&S distributor, they can be acquired the same day. Otherwise, they're available from S&S and it takes a day or two to receive them.
Ultimately, parts were shipped from the U.K. and S&S.
Morgan sat on the parts request for weeks. Weeks. This is unacceptable.
I shudder to think what will happen when the next part fails.

I'm very much getting the impression that this delay from Morgan is not unusual! I took my car to a dealer the other day because the bevel box noises are getting worse, not only the whine, which is really bad at cruising speed, but more importantly a mechanical 'knocking' sound, like something coming loose, which I did not like the sound of.
They very much gave me the feeling that they are used to not getting a reply from the factory for several weeks for this sort of thing. I'm not really sure why this should be, too much work and not enough staff, or just plain inefficient? Maybe something else, but I would like to see an improvement. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the dealer to get the go ahead to change my box, if they do change it at all.

You would think each dealership would be stockpiled with parts to prevent this from happening. This seems like an easy fix for Morgan to do instead of waiting till a problem arises and sending only that part to the dealer. Maybe its the dealers responsibility to start stocking the parts and havent yet.

The question is who pays for the stock. In current climate no business wants to invest in stock unless it pays for itself. Unfortunately warranty costs are a negative taken against profits.
