When a careless idiot in a Skoda backs into the front of your Morgan as you stand helpless filling the tank???

The damage? Front edge of the nearside wing scuffed, thankfully not damaged and no cracks in the paint. Will it polish out? Perhaps.

Yes, I can claim on my insurance and the driver admitted liability: the BP Petrol station has it on CCTV as well. But it is the inconvenience and frustration caused by stupidity that makes me cross.

For those going to the Hill next week the damage will be plain to see.....

Carelessness, maybe. Sometimes they just don't see what they are aiming at. Happened to my 90 on a driveway (not mine ). Didn't damage the LR, but did the reversing vehicle. I was going to take the Morgan on that trip, but said leave the Mog and Mini, take the Landie. How right she was!

Sorry to hear about that. At least they did not ram the car hard and knock you over or worse, and you have evidence.

Earlier this year our Freelander was parked in an Exeter car ark and a driver rammed it, got out her car, looked at the damage, drove off and parked away from it and hit another car in the process. Luckily a member of the public reported it to the police with drivers reg. it took me 3 months, 6 phone calls and the police threatening prosecution on 2 counts before the driver admitted liability.

Bummer.

I am regularly bemused by the inability of some drivers to perform the simplest of manoeuvres. OK sometimes it can be put down to lack of concentration but often it's clearly down to a total lack of ability and you have to ask how they ever passed the driving test.
It explains why you sometimes go into a supermarket car park and see people parked miles away from the shop so that there's no one else near them.

I have had two cars severly damaged while I was almost in sight of the car. In both cases they drove off and nobody took a reg number. My daughters bike was knocked over leaving quite a bit of damage but a passer by insisted the woman leave a note. She did not want to pay but we got her name and address from a friend at the phone company (she only left a phone number) and after a letter from our solicitor she eventually paid.

Yes, that would be me. I select my parking spots with care: far away from other cars and shopping carts.
