Dave, I've done just that! A few years ago in a hurry and relying on the satnav I shot over a brow of a hill following the sat navs quide of showing a bend, only to discover to my horror that it was a T junction onto another road!
The Give Way sign was obscured with leaves so there was no warning. Emergency stop in the middle of the road with lots of black tyre marks and luckily no traffic to hit!
It taught me a very valuable lesson!
