I have a potential issue with my indicators.

I thought that when I indicated left, they didn't cancel.

Upon further investigation they do self cancel as long as the steering wheel turns through 270 degrees. I checked the right turn and that cancels after 180 degrees.

The car has a Motalita steering wheel and boss.

Is this normal or is there something a miss.

I'm fed up forgetting to turn the indicator off manually, presumably because the corner wasn't sharp enough.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andrew,
Mine are the same with inconsistant cancelling on my S1, also with a Motalita and boss. Although the beep warning does help. With just 30k mileage it isn't because the cars are old, just must be a poor system. It may well be a part that can be obtained from a dealer, perhaps even an upgrade found on later models.

There is a lobe on the steering column that you can adjust by loosing a recessed grub screw with an Allen key. It should point to either 3 or 9 o'clock depending on with side your indicators are. May need moving up or down the column?

I have now fixed this issue.

It turned out the the plastic BMW stator plat was engaged with the steering boss 180 degrees out, also the steering wheel was mounted on the boss one home anti clockwise out. Corrected both issues and the indicators now cancel like on a proper car.

Thought I would feedback I case someone else has the same issues.

Regards
Andrew

The indicators on my Roadster don't cancel properly - I bought something called an 'audicator' (a replacement relay that makes a noise) but I'm told it won't fit on the Roadster as it doesn't use a conventional relay.

I'm often being flashed by other drivers as the indicator will be on.

My understanding of the 'audicator' is that it is not linked to a relay....
