Changing my door panels to the style with the wooden armrest and therefore need to relocate the speakers from the door.
Where are they normally fitted by Morgan in cars with the wooden armrest and could someone post some pictures.
Also, I was considering fitting them in the panel behind the seats. Is is possible to fit them there, I know the fuel tank is in there somewhere. If anyone has them there could you post some pictures.
I Don't listen to the radio much, but wangle to still have the option.
Thanks Andrew

Hi, I just use small speakers that come in enclosures and just sit then the back deck secured with velcro. If I am slow in traffic they are fine. At speed with the top down, not good. But with the top up, fine. You can move them about if you have luggage. And doesn't require any mods to the car.

If you want pictures, send me an email address. I'm not smart enough to post one here.

I purchased some round pod speakers on Ebay for about £30, they are sealed and on adjustable brackets and mounted the down the footwells. they work quite well. Ok up to £50 with hood down, fine with roof up. Once again no effect on the interior of the car.

If you find a picture from the factory of the new Plus 8 variant of the Aero Chassis (someone on here is bound to have one!) you will see that unlike other versions of the aero chassis it has circular cut-outs for the speakers in the tub forward/below the A-pillar - on the new 'Aero' Plus 8 the speakers are not mounted in the door. I wonder if mounting your speakers similarly to the new Plus 8 is a more permanent solution - albeit you would have to cut the apertures using measurements from a new +8 chassis as a guide.
Personally I wouldn't put the speakers behind the seats. On my Aero with a six-speaker set-up the rears don't really add much, the sound gets left behind - and that's with a metal roof!

It looks like I'll need to cut holes in the chassis and fit the speakers in the footwell then.
Please can someone confirm the speaker size and the exact locations of the holes under the bonnet. I know roughly where they go, just need confirmation of exact dimensions and hole size.
Thanks
Regards Andrew

I would recommend putting speakers in the parcel shelf behind. I had a company build a custom enclosure that dropped into the existing gap(so reversible) with some 6x9s and an amp in there. If you fit the speakers on the front edge of the custom enclosure the roof folds out the way (depending on roof style in the s1 of course..
With s1s bordering on becoming collectible I'd be a bit shy of chipping holes personally. You could also do the other obvious mid and remove the tyre pressure monitor and click and fit tweeters in the holes. Well known factory mod - and given the Tpm system is rarely useful its quite a practical solution. (Only works one side though - you'd need a pod on the passenger side given the asymmetric dash...)

Andrew, I have the wooden armrests, not sure if same as ones you are fitting. But speakers well hidden, the drivers side shown below is above and to right of throttle pedal. Left hand speaker just level with storage tray. hope this helps Dave

Dave,
Thanks for the pictures. Any chance you could provide the diameter of the speakers fitted and a photo from the back of the speakers from the inside of the bonnet.
Thanks Andrew
