Good day knowledgeable enthusiast …….. I need a little help identifying a bit of my Aero8.

On the boot of the car I have two chrome fittings which I know hold the back of the hood cover when the hood is down and the cover in place. The fittings however have a screw thread in the top like something was intended to be screwed into the hole to hold something else in place.

The screw thread does not go through into the recess that the hood cover clips into, so it cannot be for holding the cover tight when in place.

I gave the car a good fettle when I got it and apart from the odd bit of bacon butty, there were no loose bits in the car, and certainly no additional chrome bits so I have nothing to screw into the holes. Pictures below ………..





I have searched spares and accessories for the Aero8, but have not seen anything like the fittings that are on the car.

Can anyone identify the fittings and more importantly what is the purpose of the screwed thread ??

can´t help you but my 4/4 was equipped with one extra pedal rubber under the carpet when I bought it. And 4 ignition keys.
Perhaps they drop in some surplus parts?

Are they to secure a hard top to?

For a luggage rack?

I would think they are for a hood cover.

There are there to secure a factory hard top.

Thanks Guys, especially Andrewr and Chris ........... Securing a hardtop at the boot with bolts would seem sensible along with the clips on the windscreen .....

I remember Richard Thorne had a couple of Aero's for sale and they both had factory hardtop options ... So having just had a look at his site both of the cars have the same fittings on the boot.

Must take a look under the carpet and see if I have anything extra like Geir

Is it to screw a radio aerial into?

They are for the hardtop ...they also need sealing as the threads go into the boot as I found out after speaking to another aero owner .silicone fixed it ...
