I was wondering, how safe are they? You keep hearing how 'ash is really strong' and performs well in crash tests, but has anyone ever seen the results? Obviously roll over protection is poor, I think that has to be accepted, unless you spoil the lines with a roll bar, and I'd imagine side impact protection is poor. That only leaves front and rear. Rear is probably poor, maybe front is ok???
There must be someone out there who knows, facts, not anecdotal evidence. Perhaps I'm asking questions that no one really wants answers to, Perhaps people are happy to live with it. Maybe 40 years ago when there was less traffic it was a bit more equal, with todays traffic......who knows?

There are some photos of cars where the occupants have survived heavy frontal impact. There are bars in the doors since approx '97 - when the 'long door' became standard, not sure about option before then. As for the rear, I guess it depends on what runs into you. As with any motor, probably best to drive defensively and avoid (as much as possible) all other road users (particularly the aggressive / impatient / blind &c ).

I was on the ISLE OF MULL in 1988 a young girl 20s drove towards me and it was a quick thought do I take off and fly over her or tunnel under her. Instead I hit her Ford Fiesta all along the front off side wing and shoved her over , made a right old mess of her car the mog had a bent wing , bumper , along with the stub axel . Took me 10 hours to limp home . Had she hit me I would have gone over the cliff into the sea . Graham has the wing the spinner took all the smack and cut into her car like butter .

Saw a couple of Mogs T-bone at Mallory Park a couple of years ago - at racing speed - both drivers walked away & one car driven home - the other didn`t look too bad.

The introductory video at the start of the factory tours ( I wonder if that will be redone now CM has gone?) shows a frontal crash test which it passed with flying colours. The ash frame absorbs a lot of the impact. I've heard that the side impact is absorbed well with the superformed wings and door and under dash crash bars but just don't think about rear impact!
I'd hate to roll the car with or without a roll bar. Without a crash helmet the roll bar can be pretty lethal to an unprotected head. But I'm a motorcyclist so accept the danger of getting injured! I think!!

When I had my 4/4 I was shunted on Finchley Road in London at under 20 mph I was surprised at the time how little the damage was I had anticipated a lot worse. With a bit of heaving of metal I limped it to a friends workshop in London

Didn't a celeb roll a Morgan at a trackday earlier this year? Was it a Celeb challenge at Silverstone? I am about to have a rollbar fitted withing next few weeks - a mate has had it done last week and I am seeing it this weekend. We were discussing it a few weeks ago after one of us saw cars on roofs on M6 on the way back from Windermere. One of our members already has one fitted - it was on when he bought the car a few years ago.
