Possibly a daft idea, but I've been wondering if it would be possible to build a new custom flat rad 3W Mogie based on the new chassis, frame and suspension, but with a small modern water cooled egine, such as the little Suzuki used in the new Caterham, under a new bonet and radiator?

Why? I don't much like the look of that massive lump of alumimium on the front of the 3W, it looks better in black but would be best if it were invisible....

The late 1940s Ford engined Morgan 3Ws have a charm and simplicity I rather like.
Like this:

OK, it has a spare at the back but the back of the new M3W is actually rather neat.

I'd be tempted to use a small turbo diesel engine..

Gotta say, I really like that huge vee-twin lump out front though. Too shiney by far, but replace the chrome with some well positioned black or nickel plate & it's a future classic.

A few years back there was a small kit car known as a DRK, which looked very similar to the F type. Sketchy memory, but I think it ran Renault mechanicals for some reason.

A M3W with 80mpg and no loss of performance or character...now that's a dream!!

Nah. Has to be the 3 cylinder Ecoboost 92 kW (125 PS; 123 hp)and a maximum of 200 N·m (148 lb·ft) from 1,400–4,500 rpm.

That would make it a Morgan 3/3 laugh2

Just been looking at some reviews of the Ford 3cyl Ecoboost, Gamba, and had similar thoughts of this powering a Mog. I reckon you'd get some pretty good mpg figures along with reasonable performance. thinking Gerry.

Morgan 3/3: I like that!
The sport version as the +3.

Perhaps this will be announced at the dealer event, along with the use of the traditional Morgan front suspension.....?
