I also like the crisp winter days, but always try to avoid the salt! I'm not sure we can "Sorn" in Holland, but if so, I wouldn't do it. This year we made a trip on the coldest day in Holland for many years, waves on the IJsselmeer (grate lake in Holland) frozen, feel temp below 20 degrees Celcius! Sunny weather, freezing wind, but roof down, heater up and with leather jacket and cap it was a fantastic experience!

I live in the frozen North so its off the road for winter . Thats unless MMC come up with a 4x4 that I can attach a snow plough to , and a heater that thaw snowmen ( ie Drivers ) .

Me too. There's nothing better than a drive on a clear winter's day. I try and avoid the salt too, but if I get the mog salty, I just give it a really good clean. Of course, we don't have an annual road tax any more in France (amazing as Mr Hollande is taxing the nuts off everything else) so SORN isn't an issue here either, but in any case, I believe cars should be used regularly to avoid the wheels going square.
FYI. We are a bit spoiled in Germany because we have the opportunity of a temporary license plate. Mine runs from March to November. I try to avoid the salty months in Germany. If the weather is very winterly I must drive with winter tyres otherwise I could get a fine.
No SORN for me. I only stop using the 4/4 when there is salt on the roads. Like Jays, I love driving on crisp winter days.
Ditto.
What also gets on my nerves is that each time I've asked the insurance co how I'd save by putting the car on a storage policy, the actual savings is normal. Surely fire and theft when the car are parked in a private garage are nominal and therefore the risk is reduced considerably more than the 25% saving offered?!
PS - I should add that this was on an Aero product and not the classic.
Never SORN'ed ... 15 years with Morgans and I always had them available for a good day, even in winter. Two of my previous Morgans had MOT's in February/March, and despite the thought crossing my mind to have the MOT dates moved, I never did which forced me out on the road to get the MOT done .....
Forced is the wrong word, it may have been cold and sometimes it was wet and slippery, but it always put a smile on my face on a winters day.
my car (1997 plus 8) has been sitting unused in the garage for three weeks now due to a combination of factors (all my fault - bad cold, travel, other commitments etc). How long can it sit there unused before problems (other than battery) begin to arise? I fully intend to drive it throughout the winter but there will inevitably be longish gaps between use.
