Yes I agree with your sentiment Dave - besides a good tightening up of your "nuts and bolts" of the suspension and crossarm never goes amiss.

You don't want anything coming adrift at an inappropriate moment do you slap drive

Thank you!
But I think it's easy to raise the front end and grease directly into the easily accessible grease nipples. In addition, the bearings are better lubricated in the unloaded condition.

The Zerks - otherwise the giggling will start again :-) - should be 1/8th BSP - I say should be because my owned-from-new +8 has 1/8th BSP on the nearside and something that is not 1/8th BSP on the offside.

I am toying with the idea of fitting a remote greaser because accessing the nipples zerks with AVOs is a bit of a pain but would grovel on the floor afterwards to clean up and check fittings

With all of your Innovations Dave, you surprise me coffee

You still have to get down and under to wipe away the ejected oozing excess so just wipe your brow half way through and you'll feel at home all the same. hide .

Sadly, I don't have a garage ( let alone a carpeted garage wink ). Lying on a bed of wet gravel to grease said nipples zerks makes the remote greasing kits seem very attractive innocent

Normally I would agree, but the Nipple Ship put these kits together after Robbie sorted out the requirements for his Mog with them.

I see now someone else is now buying the parts and selling them via Miscellany.

There have been so many requests for info on here that the direct contact must be worth something to Members? I got my standard set after Robbie put me in touch with Nipple Shop.

BTW, Anyone want a Waddesdon Rally Plaque for £5. + £2.50 Postage for Help for Heroes? hide

Can we please stop calling them Zerks!
I've just been out cleaning the wires, and took the opprotunity to pump a few shots in, and take a general look around. It's true that I have the luxury of carpet tiles, but over my whole motoring career, I've never had a car without nipples, and I didn't always have a garage. Pre-marriage, I dug a shallow grave between the flagstones on the front lawn and in doing so exhumed somebody's dog. Most unfortunate. So I laid in the earth pit on an ex WD blanket to service the Dolomite propshaft nipples of which there were three. Each one having a grub screw to take out first and replace after inserting the nipple, greasing, then removing. It was also necessary to rotate the prop to access each one. MGB's & Midgets have two or sometimes three a side on the kingpins, and usually I took the wheels off to make sure that the grease was going where it should be going. You don't need to do many kingpin replacements to realise that it's important to make sure it gets where it should. So that's why for me, remote greasing is unthinkable. oldgit
