So which bits can be retro-fitted to ensure values of earlier cars don't plummet?

And can the chassis be strengthened on earlier cars, or can the chassis be removed and replaced (horrendous if even feasible I would have thought). I have heard that chassis fractures aren't uncommon, and would argue this is an unacceptable issue to live with...

Haven't had problems with cooling given my usage. And my bevel box is fine - compensator is just about ok at the moment but hopefully that will conk out before end of warranty - I'm sure I heard some strange noises from it last time I was out!!

Not being a "BSD", I can firmly attest, avow and affirm that bump steer can be a real issue just doing 50mph. As I told my dealer, on good roads that are reasonably smooth this little car handles superbly by my standards. As I live in Vermont where we have serious freeze cycles that can freeze the ground down to 7 feet deep, the frost heaves can practically bounce you to sub-orbit! Add the damage that Hurricane Irene did two years ago which reduced many of the roads to their constituent parts, as in rock and gravel, since many of the roads follow river beds... life can be interesting here!

I hope that a steering fix can be retrofitted. As for stiffening the frame, not likely. I was in a traffic jam in Woodstock, Vermont during foliage and the skip fire mode kicked in. Luckily, I knew what it was and it was only a matter of time before we were at speed. Nice to know it actually works!

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Interesting that the factory are still adamant that it is only the American market that is complaining about the bump steer. Methinks we Brits should be emailing the MD a little more, but I think it is a given that most of their 'feedback' is coming off this forum.

was told by my dealer the bevel box solution/fix can be retrofitted to previous cars. sounds like lots of interesting new info to be had at the dealer meeting on the 27th. looking forward to a solution to the bevel box as i'm on my 3rd and this one is terrible.

The wording in the press release says that we were individually canvassed about our problems. Maybe the other 999 were?

I did suggest a while ago that MMC should send do a survey of owners experiences , but like you Donald I must have been missed off the mailing list .

I also think those of us who have paid a lot of money for the privilege of becoming development drivers and have had to put up with flack from the BSDs , should get any upgrades fitted free and /or a favourable deal should we wish to buy a 2014 model ......

Btw , I can't find the press release , where is it ?!
