Ok Andy , I realise I probably should have made it clear that some salt needed to be added ! Unfortunately being totally inept on my ancient tablet I can't figure out how to find appropriate gifs ( is that the right word ?)

Cheers Hugh smile

No probs Hugh, I may get stroppy but I don't (ok very rarely - and not in this case) get pissed off.

Except at Mr Dron of course .... wink wink

Please...less emoticons, not more....it's the curse of the electronic age & a dumming down of correct vocabulary.

Well, you've certainly livened up the thread Andy. Actually, I thought Donalds alternative 'handle' quite appropriate, but as we are all friends on here, and we are learning to take your outbursts with that pinch of salt, we'll all have a good laugh.

BTW, the day I 'grow up' will be the day I don't have stupid and impractical cars to play with.

Whilst I understand where you are coming from I beg to differ. The problem we have on forums is that generally people aren't writing a massive narrative through which they are able to adequately describe their emotional state or easily express sarcasm and innuendo. Most of which will be conveyed by body language and facial expressions in the real world.

It's a quick, snappy (most of the time) and often reactive or intuitive response or comment. As such meaning can get lost, as witnessed above. An emoticon/gif can very quickly convey the context in which the post is made, including the posters emotional feelings clearly and quickly, avoiding misunderstandings.

What's the expression about a picture and Words? I would suggest "An emoticon paints fifty words" as a modern alternative smile

Cheers, Andy

PS "dumbing" hide oops wink

Why don't we have an emoticon for a "bull in a china shop" ? wink

Only joking Boshers.......you know I enjoy your postings! I was intrigued by the comment about you being close to the factory....never put you down as a scrimpy drinking Worcestershire lad laugh2
