As mentioned previously mine is Zircotec coated and has not caused a problem for me (It doesn't seem to be as close to the water feed as yours though.. Perhaps This from Autospecialists would be a 'prettier' solution.. Stainless Steel Exhaust heat shield Keith, Where did you source those braided pipes, and that beautiful overflow tank - was that a standard fitment on your car? Roger.

Apologies of late response... The header tank is the standard one with this neat AutoSpecialist header tank cover (simply sticks on top with double sided pads). Header Tank Cover Also they do a nice cap cover as well.. Header Cap I tweaked the position of the tank slightly to get it tucked under the heater box overhang and I was pleased with the result as well. I used Stainless Braided fuel line available from CBS Online Stainless Fuel Line and remember the address is... Father Christmas Lapland......

Keith. By the way, what do you use to provide a good end-detail on the pipes? Roger.

I'm considering replacing the standard rad in my (low mileage) 2005 4/4 focus zetec (i.e. 1.8 blacktop engine). On recent hot days, driving at "comfort" speeds - not thrashing - over the moors, the fan has been running almost constantly when the engine is under load, usually stopping only when running downhill off the throttle, or idling. Temp gauge is showing 100-105 deg. I'm pretty sure the fan is operating normally as when starting from cold and leaving the engine to idle, it comes on after a few minutes and cycles normally - it is when driving that the constant fan running becomes evident. With this "performance" I would be loathe to take the car somewhere really hot or to the Alps etc. The only modification to the car is a Librands 4-2-1 s/s manifold and sports exhaust system which did increase power (about +15 bhp on dyno), everything else is standard. There are no badges or other obstructions to the grille. The car has been regularly serviced and the cooling system checked, no leaks, two hoses recently replaced (preventatively - chafing) etc. The Mulfab radiators are described as about 15% greater surface area, which doesn't sound an awful lot. There is a heavy duty racing version, presumably bigger again? Having the correct mounting points and hose positions would be important. http://www.mulfab.co.uk/our-products/20/aluminium-radiators-cooling-systems/aluminium-44-radiatorsDoes anyone have any experience of these radiators, or any alternative suggestions? I will contact Peter at Mulfab for his advice too. Thanks Nigel Hello Nigel, I realise this is from some time ago but I wondered if you resolved the hot running issue? So far I have: Changed the thermostat Changed the radiator for a mulfab one Made and fitted an undertray to reduce back pressure in the engine bay. Made and fitted an intake cowl to duct air in below the bumper Moved the number plate so that it's level with the bumper Removed the stainless steel mesh behind the grill Made and fitted side cheeks to block off the area between the rad and the cowel AND - still the fan comes on, even in this weather so I would be very interested to know if you had any success? Thanks and regards Simon

Simon,
At what temperature does your fan switch on?
I can't remember, which engine do you have?
