I spent a week in Surat before going out to a rig, yes it was dry but you could get alcohol at the back of a restaurant or too.

The general advice was beer was OK as it was not worth faking; but whiskey was a risk as it may be faked.

I am glad I learnt after I went it suffered the plague in 1994!

I came back ashore and up the river bank after 12 hours on a tug to see a Wallace Arnold coach drive past; I am still not 100% sure I imagined it!!

The drive back to Mumbai was interesting, camels pulling carts, ox's being used to grind sugar cane and then the driving!!!

One thing that struck me in India was how different the food was. I loved it.

Yep and it varies by region a lot too. Today for lunch in Delhi I had Thali. Don't ask me what was in each dish but it was excellent.

It's the one country where I could be a vegetarian as they actually have a gastronomy that has developed around a highly vegetarian diet.

Mind you, having said that one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten was leg of lamb slow cooked for 24 hours at the Punjabi by Nature restaurant in Raja Garden New Delhi.

Back to the Kit..

I had one on my last car but removed it before I sold it. Thinking about putting it on the new one.

However I always had problems with the fitments of the pipe on the greasing block end. They would come out of the greasing connection.

It was Ok at the kingpin, but just on the greasing end.

Any tips on the correct fittiment?

Thanks,
Will

Will, the fittings should tighten up well over the pipes. All I can think of is that the pipes are not pushed fully in before you tighten the fittings, or the pipes are damaged. The pipes are pretty stiff, are they moving about below the greasing block as you go from lock to lock? I tie wrapped mine to stop that.

Why on earth? It's so much fun on your back with a grease gun - and you know where the grease has gone, in or out! Steering is light and precise with the excellent Gemmer box, self fitted 16 years ago.. I've only had to replace 1 ball joint rubber in 31 years.
