Thanks from me too Paul , it all looks very well constructed and carefully thought out.I really would like to get mine sorted , i spend a lot of time on bumpy back roads .

My only concern would be the insurance implications .

I wonder whether Morgans solution will be as comprehensive ?

Hooking thumbs was recommended by my 3wheeldrive instructor and really worked well. It seemed to damp the steering a bit bit still let the wheel move with the feedback from the road.

The car had about 5,500 miles and had the old rearwards gear lever so I assume it had the standard suspension.

I fully appreciate the comments about the steering geometry and am sure the mods that are appearing do change it and make it more like a modern power assisted steering setup. However, for me a big part of the attraction is the lively steering which is continually moving in response to the road surface.

Maybe I've been lucky with the 2 cars I've driven but as long as mine is similar I'll be very happy to stay with the standard setup.

Well it's up to you ! You have been warned smile
Seriously you couldn't do it in my car , on rough roads I hold the wheel very lightly and let it leap about .

I totally agree - the secret is the light touch.

Thumbs on or off the spokes - it's quick and easy to find out what works for you.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I was wearing motorcycle gloves when I had thumbs over the spokes - this might have helped.

No. I think the "comfort product" will only mask the suspension geometry problems not fix them. This solution appears to fix most of the faults and is reversible, if you really want to go back to bump steer. It looks a better solution to me.

As I am only a happy customer, I don't want to get too involved in selling these bits, but am happy to coordinate things on a bulk buy basis for anyone who is interested as the company is local to me in Somerset. Have a look on their website: www.empireracingcars.com to see what their main activity is. Bill Chaplin is the boss and extremely knowledgeable and well thought of in his field - Hill Climb single seaters.

From what one or two people who have contacted Empire Racing Cars directly have said, they are quoting £795 if they can get a minimum of 10 orders, or around £1100 for one off kits, mine cost quite a lot more than that, as it was the first one, and it was all fitted and set up, but apart from the fact that it shouldn't have been necessary in the first place, I am more than happy with the results. As far as I am concerned it has really transformed the feel of the car. I have done around 300 - 400 miles now, with a few 2 hour journeys being the longest, and it is all functioning perfectly.
