It looks as if the floor level goes on top of the chassis rails. Usually both the floor, the seating rails and seats sit within the lower space at the bottom of the chassis. How will this affect the seating will it sit you a lot higher in the car. Have you an underside pan to reduce drag from the space between the chassis bottom to the new floor position if this is the case. Will you panel the doors etc with Ali similar to the lightweight roadsters.

@jeepy
Are you serious about the "...reduce drag from the space between the chassis". Have you seen the body on a Morgan? :-)
No effect on seating height. The seats are not as thick as the originals. The whole interior is aluminum panels. I'll attach more photos.

v12 Hi Yes im serious. I have rebuilt a few morgans and im just thinking that if the floor is level with the top of the chassis rails(which it looks like yours is)its going to leave you with three sections that are approx 3.5 inches deep with a lip all the way around the gaps (which the floor boards usually sit in)below your car. They are going to be a bugger to clean etc (and please dont mistake me for someone who cleans every inch of their car cos thats not me) unless you have made some mods to the chassis and removed the lip/angle. Thats why i wondered if you were having a floor pan attached to the underside of the chassis. Similar to what I do when doing trials. Are you building the car for racing?

Hi Jeepy. I understand but I was surprised when you said reduced drag. This and my vw samba bus are anything but aerodynamic. (Why we love them). The chassis is as it was since I'm in California and chassis maintenance is a minimal issue here. This morgan is not being built for racing but will do some weekend track days here and there as long as we can drive to and from the events. I have always been a fan of the porsche 356 outlaw look and thought such as approach would be awesome applied to a plus eight.

Totally agree you sound like a man after my own heart. I have always liked my Morgans with all the interior trim removed. Bare bones style showing the wooden body tub and the floor etc. Panelled out with unpainted ali sheet, screw heads and rivets showing. Less to clean and look after. And of course you can now get that look with the Light weight Roadster (racer) The factory are now trying to cash in on the look with the Brooklands range. I have always liked Hot rods/ lake racers and think that a Morgan would make a superb outlaw british version. Mean,lean,and moody.

@Jeepy: Glad to see others have same mind set. To me Morgan's are all about the less is more but I prefer more attitude. So that was our program and why I purchased a plus 8. There is an amazing builder of early 911s with quite a following in California. His name is Magnus Walker. We're using the same approach to our Morgan build. We hope that we can start a movement of Morgan outlaws.

Well, I've been thinking about that ugly wheel, and I wish my 'new' car had one. It's much nicer than that fitted to my '93. I don't want a Motolita - had one on the +4... The only problem I had with the same (original wheel) on my '76 was the boss would fall out occasionally. Could be a rude awakening!!

I've got one just like that, Graham. You'd be more than welcome to it if you like. I'll try to remember to bring it up to Bruntingthorpe on Sunday.

Cheers Tim. They're a much nicer finish than the all black one on 'Q'... See you there. Have a good Christmas - hope the llamas and other animals don't keep you out all day
