John, I don't believe anyone would disagree with you on these points. Poor quality can never be excused by adding the label 'Hand Built'. What, I believe, has been debated on TM, either directly or indirectly, are the effective methods to relay dissatisfaction with a product (be that a Morgan or anything else). At times, this last point seems to be the most contentious.

You say that and yet there are pages of new members being hampered on for having issues with their cars and not accepting it as part of the splendor of owning a low volume hand-built car...

There's a difference in my mind between fettling and improving, as many of us enjoy, and poor design (such as chaffing hoses).

I read a road test somewhere that ended with the view that an M3W cannot be treated like a mass produced Ford or Audi. It has to be treated like a classic or even vintage car. You need to check it yourself frequently not leave the bonnet closed for months. Morgan do not have the billions for developing & testing that Ford have therefore there will be problems & failures.

I have had issues one major, a failed pushrod, that I would have been much more annoyed with in new mass produced car. This does not excuse faults like rubbing hoses. I welcome the opportunity to fettle which is almost impossible on mass machinery but used to be there in most cars 30 years ago.

Krod, without wishing to state the obvious, this is a discussion forum and therefore, there will be varying opinions. The key point is that everyone is welcome to state their opinion and preferably support it with facts. From day one of the M3W section to now, only one post has required removal and that particular post was taken down because it broke the terms of use of this site. As you know, links to the content of that post were published on here and they were not removed; therefore, whilst the post broke the terms of use of this site, people were able to seek it out should they wish to read it. Perhaps you have been involved with other existing, and defunct, Morgan discussion groups previously or perhaps not; however, TM offers a level of freedom of speech that matches, or in many cases, exceeds all others. The best part is, if people don't enjoy TM, there is a simple solution: don't log onto it

Now! Such recurring faults could be a great topic for a New Book, Charles (Morgan). (if you happen to be reading this).

You must have a good memory, or maybe even the odd diary or two (Starting from as far back at Sir John Harvey Jones or even earlier) to call on from those many technical review meetings'.

On the Roadster 100 Register website we keep a list of Members Reported Car Faults and frequency.

I won't go into numbers and frequencies but the latest one to start recurring are 'Plastic Radiator lower hosepipe connections shearing off needing New Rads. ( some at only 4k miles ). A bit of a worry (for me) if it hasn't happened yet.

All our cars have been out of warranty for some time.

You are spot on here Peter. There have been a number of recent cars that have had to have replacement springs, some for the second time. Too many cars delivered with too many problems. Some appear not to comply with the Australian Design Rules - big problem.

Do you know if a cause has been identified for this? I wonder if it could be caused by the hoses becoming stiffer over time and transmitting vibration to the radiator connection rather than absorbing it in the hose? Has anyone tried swapping to silicone hose?
