On both Dad'd Aero, My old one and new one we have the quick shift kit... which is indeed merely a shortened stick.. there is no spring replacements like you would expect to get on an Escort quick shift system for instance.
We also run Momo shifter knobs which drop the top of the knob to only a few mm higher than the rod itself... and roughly 1/2 inch or maybe more lower than the stock knob.. or most aftermarket fitments.
It does not take long to fit the quickshift but involves removing the gater and chrome securing gasget.
should only take a dealer 1hr so nothing serious...

Momo Part No.
MOMM15520111111
Aluminium Sport - £40
The diameter of the knob is ~5cm so it's pretty chunky.
The neck is also cunningly just the right size to create a seal on the leather gater so you don't have a loose leather gater crunched up under the knob.
