Which price point..... its broad.
Had a run out in V8D Mid spec. Still feels a little boat like. Interior impressive but still touchscreen and feels old Leather feels a little better quality on high spec but less on lower spec. Performance is acceptable, better than old model by far. Economy improved a lot Huge to park
Silent So comfy Relaxing Nice style
This or a new S-Class would be my consideration.

FWIW - just spent a week in a GL 350 Bluetec as a loaner. Couldn't wait to hand it back. Impressive fuel economy for a big 4x4 but it's as wide as a barge, handles like one and the drive-by-wire throttle/engine/gearbox combo means the car has a different agenda to your right foot. I also drove the new RR Sport recently in V6 Diesel - blown away by how good it was. Now wondering whether I could live with the image it has...

In the older generation I would have gone for a RR (Fullfat) over the Sport as I preferred the balance of comfort. With the new ranges I would also go for the Sport.
If you spec a higher interior grade the leather and settings are better and it is a nicer drive. Also just that little bit smaller. Little is relative at this scale !
