I have two spare bonnet halves after putting Supersport bonnets on my 4/4 earlier this year. I was going to hang on to them but if anyone wants them and fancies putting in a bid (I've really no idea how to price them!), please try me! The sale proceeds will go to the Marfan Trust.

As the cars are supposedly bespoke I cannot vouch for how the bonnets would fit although the first Supersport bonnet MMC made for me and I rejected was bought by Williams and quite nicely fitted onto their 4/4 racer.

The bonnets are in Sport Green, good paintwork but have race stickers on them. The hinge and the side fasteners are not on them.

In view of the bulk of them, they would need to be collected from me or i don't mind driving out to the factory to meet up.

Hi Jays,

I am interested how the Supersports bonnet fits to your car. Here is my story:

I own a 4/4 2002 Le Mans edition. My friend from Hamburg owns the same car and we are planning to install a 2.0 Zetec with Throttle bodies. The way to do it right is to change the bonnet to a Supersport bonnet with the scope on the right side. But we are not sure which one we can by where, because most people telling us the bonnet has to be made to the individual car.

Any information how you managed the job is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,
The bonnets are made to fit each individual car so there is no guarantee that my bonnets will fit another car. They were made by the factory specifically for my car. The factory did make the scooped bonnet not to my specification originally and when I rejected it, it was used by Williams for their race 4/4 and it did fit that ok.

Martin, note that the Plus 4 standard 2L Zetec?/Duratec is mounted in the chassis offset to the offside. That may allow sufficient clearance for throttle bodies inside an original bonnet. Your dealer should know.

If it's a Zetec which has the intakes on the offside, I think that the set up will require the bonnet scoop to make room for the air filter. The Duratec has more room.

Martin - sorry I gave you duff gen. The 2L engine is offest to the nearside!!!! Which gives more room for the exhaust on the offside.
So throttle bodies on my car would be a tight fit. Easier with the engine centralised, but would require exhaust modifications.

You can rest easy. I am reliably informed by Omex that there is enough space for throttle bodies under the standard hood for the Duratec 2.0. The Omex kit that is already being offered fitted by Williams (see ad in the latest MOG) includes a foam filter that fits over the inlet trumpets. It gets close to the hood at the front but not too close.

I re read the original post and I don't know if that is the same for the 2.0 Zetec the position may be different. I would suggest calling Williams and asking them.

Phew!
Jays is a bad influence, and the thought of 180 or 200bhp in a 4/4 body is niggling in the back of my brain.
Not sure how I would get this past swmbo though.
Probably best not to say anything and just work on an excuse why the Morgan is away for a few days. I could pretend it's a service............
